methodology.

Every assessment samples five reasoning areas. Each area contributes to a category profile and feeds one overall estimated IQ score.

• Pattern Reasoning

  Identifying rules, relationships and transformations inside abstract visual patterns.

• Logical Reasoning

  Working through deductions, conditional statements, classifications and ordered sequences.

• Numerical Reasoning

  Recognising numerical relationships and progression rules without advanced mathematics.

• Spatial Reasoning

  Mentally rotating, folding, matching and reorienting shapes in space.

• Verbal Reasoning

  Reasoning about analogies, categories and semantic relationships between concepts.

A standard Brain Flex assessment contains 50 questions — about ten per category — and typically takes 25–30 min. Items focus on reasoning, not trivia or advanced school mathematics.

Difficulty generally rises across the session. You can move forward and back; correctness is not revealed until the result, so mid-test feedback cannot reshape later answers.

Question sets are assembled server-side from a larger original bank. Composition balances the five categories and a controlled difficulty mix. Where possible, selection prefers items you have not already seen.

Once your assessment is created, the question set (and any safely randomised option order) is frozen. Closing the app or switching devices resumes the same attempt — it does not reshuffle into a new test.

Scoring happens securely on our servers. Correct answers are never sent to your device before an assessment is complete, and your device never tells us whether an answer was right.

At a high level, scoring considers correctness and item difficulty, with bounded handling of response timing. The outcome is one estimated IQ score on a familiar reference scale centered near 100, plus a category profile. We do not publish proprietary weights or exact curve parameters.

An estimated percentile is presented using a conventional IQ-style reference mean and spread. It is a reference-scale presentation, not a claim that we have measured the full population distribution.

Brain Flex is for adults 18 and older. Date of birth is collected privately for eligibility and so an age band can be recorded when an assessment begins. Age bands support research and diagnostics.

Current scoring does not apply age normalization — a score is not adjusted upward or downward because of age. Any future age-normed approach would require sufficient data, review, and an explicit change before activation; historical results would not be silently rewritten.

Brain Flex is a recreational and informational cognitive assessment. It has not been independently validated or professionally normed as a clinical intelligence test. It is not a medical or psychological diagnosis and must not be used for clinical, educational placement, employment, legal, or disability decisions.

We do not claim equivalence to professionally administered instruments. The familiar scale midpoint near 100 is a presentation reference, not a claim of a validated population average. See also the disclaimer.
